About the Resort
Our Heritage
A Story of Distinction
In 1987, the Pemberton family transformed a magnificent Edwardian manor house in Oxfordshire into what would become England's most celebrated destination resort. The original Grade II listed building โ once a private estate belonging to an Earl โ was meticulously restored, preserving its soaring ceilings, ornate plasterwork and original oak panelling whilst introducing every modern luxury.
Over nearly four decades, Luxury Hotel Resort UK has welcomed royalty, world leaders, celebrated artists and discerning travellers from every corner of the globe. We hold an AA 5 Red Star rating โ the highest honour in British hospitality โ awarded without interruption since 1994.

Our Philosophy
Guided by Excellence
Uncompromising Quality
Every element of the guest experience โ from the thread count of our Egyptian cotton sheets to the provenance of each ingredient in our kitchens โ is chosen with absolute care.
Personal Service
Our ratio of 2.8 staff members per guest is among the highest in the country. Your dedicated butler learns your preferences before you even arrive.
Sustainability
We hold a Green Key Gold certification. Our kitchen gardens supply 40% of produce, we operate on 100% renewable energy, and our carbon offset programme is independently audited.
The Estate
42 Acres of Splendour
Beyond the hotel walls, our grounds are a destination in themselves. Manicured formal gardens, a walled kitchen garden, woodland walks, a croquet lawn and a sunken rose terrace await every guest.
